Do you ever wonder about some of our standard responses?
I was thinking about a response I got from asking "How are you feeling today?"
The response was "Not Bad"...quite a common response.
As I was walking away, I got to thinking about it.
Did I suggest that I assumed you were bad? Is that why you told me you weren't?
Are you really trying to tell me you're good? ok? miserable?
What does "Not Bad" mean anyway?
Is the glass half empty? or half full?
What do you think?

"Not Bad"
You are right. Am i good, bad, or what? When i say it i am letting the person know that i am feeling close to good, but am not totally all the way there.
When you think about it a person might really not know how you are feeling when you give that responds.
"I'm not bad, I'm horrible"
"I'm not bad, I'm wonderful"
"I'm not bad, I'm ready to pass out"
I really think the "Not Bad" responds must know be followed by what feeling you are referring too. This way everyone will be clear as to how you are feeling at that specific moment in time.
So this morning, "I'm not bad, i had a great weekend at the farm, had a couple rest days from the gym and am ready for todays workout and hopefully a progress making assessment tomorrow."
Enjoy your day everyone.

Sickness set in starting Friday, so i didn't go into this workout expecting any records. Only number i beat was the first round. Came out very strong shaving 14s off last first round. May have blew out too much to recover. Second round was 9s slower, third round was 7s slower. Completed 72reps on the box jumps last go around as well.
Was very close to letting birthday weekends food choices out for Ken to see. Thanks Tiff and Darren for watching and I am sorry for the negative thoughts i had.

I use "not bad" if I'm actually bad but don't want to complain about it. But never when I'm good. It is a weird saying.

I use "not bad" meaning normal - I am not super great nor am I feeling really bad. Just normal. It is very interesting to think about this and to read others thoughts. That being said I guess my work out today was NOT BAD.
