Calgary's real estate market ends year on strong note
The local real estate market has enjoyed a big turnaround this year.
Sales and prices nose-dived at the start of 2009, as the impact of the recession was being felt around the world.
Fred Ketchen with Scotia Capital tells 660News when spring arrived, many people realized the economic downturn in Canada was not nearly as bad as the one south of the border.
Ketchen says people started to take advantage of both reduced house prices and low interest rates and returned to the market.
Re/Max estimates by the end of the year MLS sales will reach 26 thousand up 12 percent from 2008.
The Calgary Real Estate Board reports both the sale of single family homes and condo's are up this year over last with prices still down about 5 percent over the same period.
In November the average price of a home in Calgary was pegged at $464 thousand dollars.

I agree with your thoughts on time management Darren. I have enjoyed the time off with my family a great deal. I did however go out to my acreage on Monday with just Jackson (my dog). We had a nice quiet day with a big bonfire and just took some time to reflect on the last year and everything that is going on in my life. It was very relaxing and I know I enjoy a day like that every once in a while.
I have not been on the plan much but rather did my own program with my sister.
Dec 28 - walking (briskly) Airdrie lights.
Dec 29 - Walked (rather briskly)for couple hours thru Ikea, then for another couple hours at least through Market Mall - this really has to count for something.
Dec 30 - Once again min. 2 hour mall walking.
Food Journal:
For the last 3 days I have not stuck to the eating plan. For sure no 6 meals a day but not real bad food either except for last night we went to Olive Garden and enjoyed a glass of wine and a stuffed chicken breast with some potatoes.
Most importantly I am really enjoying spending this time with my sister and girls.
Today: Again a min. of 2 hours of shopping.
